How to Use the Interventions
Agencies are encouraged to consider and select interventions that best meet the needs of the state and provide a coordinated approach to improving the nutrition of low-income consumers. Regional SNAP-Ed Coordinators can serve as a resource to help with this process. States may identify interventions that will complement the healthy eating recommendations of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and messages from USDA’s nutrition assistance programs. It is recommended that State SNAP-Ed officials consult with other state nutrition assistance program officials before choosing interventions to include in their SNAP-Ed Plans to ensure complementary and not redundant efforts. In accordance with SNAP-Ed Plan Guidance, states should identify partner organizations to collaborate on obesity prevention activities within their states.
